The incident occurred Friday afternoon, after Mercato's parents discovered that their child, who had been playing outside their house, was missing, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims told reporters Monday.
The parents called police, who searched the neighborhood and nearby parks in Mendota, 33 miles west of Fresno, she said. Soon, the FBI was called in.
On Saturday, authorities resumed the search and found the body stuffed inside the dryer in the apartment next door.

CONWAY, S.C. — A South Carolina man caught on video having sex with a horse was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison after pleading guilty for the second time in two years to abusing the creature.
Rodell Vereen was also ordered never to go near the stable where the horse's owner caught him and held him for authorities at shotgun point over the summer. He apologized to the woman and to himself after admitting to buggery at the Horry County courthouse.
"I'm sorry about what I've done. I didn't mean to do it. It's my fault. I'm sorry for what I've done to myself," Vereen said during Wednesday's court hearing.
Vereen was arrested in July after Barbara Kenley caught him entering the barn at Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. She had been staking out the stable for more than a week after setting up a surveillance camera and videotaping Vereen's assault on her 21-year-old horse named Sugar.
Kenley said she became suspicious because her horse was acting strange and getting infections, and she noticed things were moved around the barn and dirt was piled up near the horse's stall.
It wasn't the first time she'd caught Vereen. In late 2007, Kenley found him asleep in the hay after assaulting her horse. For that offense, he also pleaded guilty to buggery, received probation and had to register as a sex offender.
On Wednesday, the judge sentenced Vereen to five years in prison, but he will only have to serve three years behind bars as long as he successfully completes two years of probation. Vereen also was ordered to undergo additional mental treatment after he gets out of prison and was told to stay away from Kenley's stable.
Kenley told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach she was mostly happy with the verdict, but wished Vereen had got more prison time.
"I've been through hell for the last year and it's caused a lot of hardship," Kenley told the newspaper. "There's a lot of ridicule and jokes going around about this thing. And a person can only take so much."

The volunteers would flag posts that looks like scams or inappropriate thumper talk and when the post gets enough flags from the other volunteers then it gets removed from the site. With a huge site such as Craigslist, even if you set up rules for the posters to follow, it still becomes a never ending challenge as some would still break the rules .
It was David Sherrill who started the idea of a flagging system that utilizes people power. It became quite a success and now the raleigh boyz volunteers are checking out the site and flagging the inappropriate posts which is very effective and does not cost the site too.They won't flag paying post.

President Obama drew heat last week for a story that surfaced outing his private White House male-only b-ball games. The story was that even though two female members of his cabinet were members of their college basketball teams, they were excluded, as were all women, from this most private of male-only clubs. The story became a metaphor for how the president views women generally and threatened to reveal some inconvenient truths about the man.
Now we see reports that gender-insensitivity charges have resonated with the Obama White House. According to Politics Daily, the president dragged chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes to the golf course on Sunday, and she became the first female to join his golf foursome since he took office. The event produced a photo op of global proportions.
President Obama could invite Chamique Holdsclaw to the private White House basketball court and Billie Jean King to play tennis with him. I still wouldn't believe he's any more comfortable dealing with women or concerned about "women's" issues than the dearly departed former Sen. Jesse Helms. President Obama talks the talk a lot better and a lot louder than Helms. But Jesse Helms was so rooted in his atavist traditions, he chose to remain true to his misogyny rather than pose for cameras with faux female golfing partners. President Obama must hide the side of his personality that is clearly uncomfortable with women because he needs their votes much more than Helms ever did.
Whether it was his treatment of Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail (as in his condescending remark that she was "likeable enough") or his clearly career-oriented mate who has been toned down and remorphed into a Stepford Wife, I just don't get the impression this man is comfortable with women. Nor do I believe he cares about them beyond needing women's votes. It's an act and a thoroughly see-through, amateur one at that.
In a show of force, some 1,000 Mexican police agents raided the Mexico City headquarters of Luz y Fuerza del Centro in the early hours of Sunday morning, October 11.
The government of President Felipe Calderón had decreed the liquidation of the publicly owned firm that provides electricity for Mexico City and surrounding states in central Mexico, and the firing of its more than 40,000 workers, members of the Mexican Electricians Union (SME). Unless reversed by the legislature or the courts, the decree removes from SME’s rolls two-thirds of its membership, a body blow to the SME bureaucracy, from which it may never recover.
The National Electricity Commission (CFE,) a government agency will oversee the dismantling of the firm and the provision of electricity to this important region, which is responsible for more than one third of Mexico’s economic output. Its power plants and transmission lines provide electrical power for Mexico City and four central states, home to more than 25 million people, nearly 24 percent of the population. Luz y Fuerza del Centro purchases some its electricity from the CFE power grid.
The SME bureaucracy has vowed to fight Calderón’s decree. On October 12 it appealed to the Senate. It is being supported in this by Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).
Calderón defended the legality of his actions (a decree issued in the middle of the night without consultation with the legislature) in a televised speech on Sunday night. He claimed that the utility was too expensive to operate in the context of the economic crisis afflicting the country.
The Mexican president said that he had mandated the CFE to hire from among the pool of laid-off workers. Calderón also offered a financial bonus for workers who did not dispute the liquidation and advice on how they could go into business for themselves. A Los Angeles Times article intimates that at most 10,000 workers would be rehired, but says nothing about what will happen to their wages and benefits.
The presidential decree was sparked in part by a dispute between the PAN government and the SME over union elections that installed Martín Esparza Flores as SME president on July 1. Esparza Flores won by a slim majority, 550 votes. An opposition faction, the Movement for Union Transparency (MTS,) headed by Alejandro Muñoz Reséndiz, had charged the SME bureaucracy with electoral fraud and demanded a new election, appealing to the Calderón administration. The MTS claims to have evidence that the lists of voters included deceased workers, and non-union members. The MTS also suspects that Esparza Flores supporters were allowed to vote more than once.
On October 2, the federal Labor Department declined to validate Esparza’s election. Under Mexican labor law, this decision effectively mandates a new union election, something that Esparza had already rejected. The Calderón administration had signaled its intention to close the electric utility, in part to retaliate against the SME bureaucracy’s refusal to comply with the labor department’s decision.
In his speech, Calderón claimed that the company had run up excessive costs, due to its inefficient operations, an excessive number of SME employees, the so-called high wages of the union’s members and the generous pensions for SME retirees.
In reality wages at Luz y Fuerza del Centro are in line with those of other public employees. According to one example, a skilled carpenter at Luz y Fuerza del Centro earns the modest sum of US $340 per month. Mexican officials have also accused the SME of interfering with the modernization of the firm.
Luz y Fuerza del Centro is notorious for its low quality service and for the volatility of its rates, which may have little to do with actual usage. The company has been accused of “losing” electricity it buys from the CFE, in part because many poor Mexicans, unable to afford rates of electricity that are high by world standards, resort to the dangerous practice of hanging hooks onto power lines or to bypassing electric meters.
In addition, the company has been charged with cronyism and of selling electricity below cost, or at no cost, to big businesses and to politically connected individuals and companies. On average, big firms paid 0.45 pesos per kilowatt-hour compared to 1.5 pesos that residential customers paid. The government hopes to reduce its fiscal deficit by some 20 billion pesos (US $1.53 billion) from the liquidation.
Calderón’s decree was welcomed by Wall Street and international investors. Francisco Suárez, head of equity research of Actinver Corporation, an influential Mexican investment managing firm, told Bloomberg.com that the liquidation of the electrical utility will bolster the country’s bond ratings. “The announcement of Luz y Fuerza represents a structural change in Mexico,” declared Suárez. “If you no longer sustain the company, that is money you do not have to ask the customers for.”
In his speech, Calderón emphasized that due to the economic crisis, the government cannot afford to keep giving money to Luz y Fuerza and, by extension, any other public enterprise. The latter was made clear in a press interview with Interior Secretary Fernando Gómez Mont. When asked by reporter Eduardo Castillo told the Associated Press that the liquidation of other state-owned enterprises was one of the tools that the government will use to “improve productivity and efficiency of the productive organizations in the public sector.”
Also in supporting Calderón was the Business Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX) and the Federation of Chambers of Industry (CONCAMIN.) A COPARMEX spokesperson denounced the utility as a “bottomless pit.” CONCAMIN expressed its “absolute” support for Calderón’s decree and described Luz y Fuerza del Centro as “inefficient and corrupt.”
From the standpoint of the Mexican bourgeoisie and the world financial aristocracy, this is an example of “making virtue out of necessity” and is in line with remarks by the president earlier this year that the country needed to do “more with less.” While the government denies that it intends to privatize the electrical utility—something that Calderón has always supported—it is making it clear that it intends for it to pay its way by lowering costs, i.e., rationalizing the labor force and assaulting wages and benefits. “Had I not taken this measure,” said Calderón, “we would have had to raise electric rates or constantly increase taxes.”
Luz y Fuerza del Centro’s liquidation coincides, and is in line with, the vote this week on Calderón’s austerity budget. In the second quarter of this year, Mexican economic output fell by 10.3 percent on a yearly basis. In August alone, industrial production fell by 7.3 percent. Government tax revenues, including taxes on oil, have fallen by 13 percent.
Financial observers expect the draconian budget—a massive assault on social welfare combined with regressive increases in taxes on the poor—to pass with only a few changes.
In anticipation, the Mexican peso and the Mexican stock and bond markets have rallied in the expectation of future profits.
Corruption and fraud have a long history in Mexican society. This includes the corruption and fraud within the unions themselves, which, undoubtedly involved SME’s participation in the massive income generated by Luz y Fuerza del Centro. Very little of this trickled down to the workers themselves, however, who are now seeing their jobs suddenly wiped out.

Il y a 56 ans, les forces de ce qui devait devenir la République populaire démocratique de Corée entraient dans le sud de la Corée avec comme objectif de libérer cette région des collaborateurs de l’occupation impérialiste japonaise – les anciens maîtres coloniaux de la Corée – qui étaient restés en place sous les auspices de l’armée américaine installée dans la région aux lendemains de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. L’armée basée dans le nord, dans une tentative pour réunifier la Corée, déclencha dans le sud une puissante révolution sociale et fut à deux doigts de chasser l’armée impérialiste américaine de la péninsule. En un tout petit peu plus de deux ans l’armée américaine, qui menait l’assaut contre la Corée sous l’égide de l’ONU, subit presque autant de pertes que pendant plus de dix ans de guerre du Vietnam. Dans cette guerre, les Etats-Unis massacrèrent plus de trois millions de Coréens, incinérant et asphyxiant de nombreux villageois sous un océan de napalm.
En tant que trotskystes, nous sommes pour la défense militaire inconditionnelle de l’Etat ouvrier déformé nord-coréen, et c’est pourquoi nous nous réjouissons de ce que la Corée du Nord développe des armes nucléaires, une dissuasion nécessaire contre l’impérialisme. Notre défense de la Corée du Nord – où le pouvoir est exercé selon les règles de la primogéniture par Kim Jong-il, le fils de Kim Il-sung, et chef de la bureaucratie stalinienne – est une défense du renversement et de l’expropriation du capitalisme. Abandonner la défense des Etats ouvriers, c’est abandonner la cause de la révolution prolétarienne internationale. Cette cause, et par conséquent la défense militaire inconditionnelle des derniers Etats ouvriers déformés, la Chine, Cuba, le Vietnam et la Corée du Nord, constitue la pierre angulaire du programme de la Ligue communiste internationale (LCI).
La guerre de Corée n’a jamais pris fin, pas seulement techniquement parce que les Etats-Unis ont refusé de signer un traité de paix, mais dans les faits. Loin d’être le produit des délires sur « l’axe du mal » d’une administration Bush shootée aux anabolisants, la seule politique de l’impérialisme US envers le Nord et son régime stalinien a toujours été sa destruction, comme étape du processus pour renverser la Révolution chinoise de 1949. Aujourd’hui, ce sont les Démocrates qui affichent leur « fermeté » envers la Corée du Nord, attaquant l’administration Bush sur la droite.
La guerre de Corée avait été déclenchée par le président Démocrate Harry Truman et poursuivie par son successeur Républicain Dwight Eisenhower, tandis que le général Douglas MacArthur envisageait d’utiliser des armes nucléaires contre la Chine. Il ne fait guère de doute que la possibilité d’une riposte nucléaire de l’URSS a fait réfléchir à deux fois les docteurs Folamour, tandis que l’intervention de plus d’un million de « volontaires » de l’Armée populaire de libération chinoise, après que la Chine elle-même avait été menacée militairement par les Etats-Unis, a permis à la Corée du Nord de survivre. Aujourd’hui encore, les Etats-Unis maintiennent près de 30 000 soldats en Corée du Sud, ainsi qu’une base navale et trois bases aériennes. Ces soldats ont été utilisés à plusieurs reprises pour appuyer la répression des luttes ouvrières et des soulèvements sociaux au Sud, et ils témoignent de la détermination de l’impérialisme US à prendre sa revanche après sa défaite au Nord. Troupes et bases US, hors de Corée du Sud !
La veille de la publication de la déclaration du Ministère des Affaires étrangères nord-coréen, le secrétaire d’Etat adjoint américain Chris Hill lançait cet avertissement : « Nous n’allons pas vivre avec une Corée du Nord nucléaire. Elle peut avoir un avenir, ou elle peut avoir ces armes. Elle ne peut pas avoir les deux. » Les prétentions antinucléaires des Etats-Unis sont de la pure foutaise, destinée à faire oublier l’incinération d’Hiroshima et Nagasaki à la fin de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. Ce sont les Etats-Unis qui, dans leur « Bilan de posture nucléaire » de 2002, ont inscrit la Chine et la Corée du Nord, entre autres pays, comme cibles de premières frappes nucléaires potentielles. De son côté, la Corée du Sud a cherché à plusieurs reprises à développer en secret la technologie nécessaire à la fabrication d’armes nucléaires. Le Japon, qui possède plus de 40 tonnes de plutonium, a la capacité de développer, dans les délais les plus brefs, des armes nucléaires. Et il y a bien sûr l’important arsenal nucléaire d’Israël.
L’essai nucléaire de la Corée du Nord n’en a pas moins été caractérisé par la plupart des commentateurs bourgeois comme le produit d’une dictature bizarre, démente et incontrôlée. Il y a beaucoup à dire sur le pouvoir bureaucratique, dynastique et mythifié des Kim en général, et plus particulièrement sur les penchants du « cher dirigeant » Kim Jong-il. Mais la décision de la Corée du Nord de procéder à cet essai n’est pas seulement rationnelle ; elle constitue une première étape essentielle pour développer un arsenal nucléaire capable de dissuader une attaque impérialiste. Ce n’est pas par hasard que le seul répit partiel que la Corée du Nord ait connu face à la pression sans relâche de l’impérialisme US a été pendant la période où elle était économiquement et militairement alliée avec l’URSS. En fait, sans l’arsenal nucléaire soviétique, il est probable qu’une grande partie de la Chine, du Vietnam ainsi que de la Corée du Nord serait un champ de ruines irradiées.
A bas le chantage nucléaire impérialiste !
Au lendemain du conflit frontalier sino-indien de 1962, au cours duquel l’Union soviétique avait refusé de soutenir la Chine au nom de la quête par les Soviétiques d’une « coexistence pacifique » avec l’impérialisme américain, nous avions salué la première explosion nucléaire chinoise, en octobre 1964, comme un acte de défense élémentaire dans le contexte de la trahison soviétique. Nous déclarions alors : « La question centrale, c’est que chaque augmentation de la capacité chinoise à tenir en respect militairement les Etats-Unis augmente le temps disponible pour préparer la révolution prolétarienne – avant tout en Amérique –, au final la seule garantie de tous les acquis obtenus jusqu’ici par la classe ouvrière internationale » (Spartacist édition anglaise n° 3, janvier-février 1965).
Pour des marxistes révolutionnaires, c’est un axiome : pour que la révolution socialiste survive, elle doit, à relativement brève échéance, acquérir la prédominance dans le monde par la prise du pouvoir par le prolétariat dans les bastions les plus avancés de l’impérialisme. Les castes bureaucratiques au pouvoir dans les Etats ouvriers déformés n’ont pas ce genre de perspective. Elles tirent leurs privilèges économiques relatifs et leur pouvoir social de leur rapport parasitaire aux Etats ouvriers, et de ce fait redoutent par-dessus tout le réveil d’une combativité prolétarienne qui menacerait de remplacer leur domination. Ainsi, s’ils sont occasionnellement forcés de défendre, contre les attaques de l’impérialisme, les révolutions qu’ils tiennent sous leur emprise politique, ces bureaucrates staliniens cherchent à maintenir une futile politique de « coexistence pacifique » avec l’impérialisme dans le cadre de leur dogme nationaliste de la construction du « socialisme dans un seul pays » (ou même la moitié d’un pays dans le cas de la Corée du Nord).
Pendant la guerre froide dirigée par les Etats-Unis qui a suivi la Deuxième Guerre mondiale et qui avait l’Union soviétique comme cible désignée d’une attaque nucléaire, l’URSS a fourni un important soutien militaire et matériel à l’Etat ouvrier déformé chinois nouvellement créé, et qui était pris de façon similaire pour cible pendant la guerre de Corée. Avec la désescalade de la guerre froide, les staliniens d’Union soviétique se sont déclarés prêts à monnayer ce soutien en échange d’un rapprochement avec les impérialistes américains. De même, pendant la guerre du Vietnam, le Parti communiste chinois (PCC) a saisi « l’occasion » de s’acoquiner avec les impérialistes américains contre un imaginaire « social-impérialisme » soviétique. Comme les Etats-Unis cherchaient à renverser la puissance militaire et industrielle qui était née de la Révolution d’octobre 1917, les efforts du PCC furent très appréciés par les Etats-Unis, et contribuèrent à paver la voie à la contre-révolution dans l’Etat ouvrier dégénéré soviétique en 1991-1992, une défaite historique d’importance mondiale pour le prolétariat international.
Dans le cas de la Corée du Nord, la Chine a voté, de façon criminelle, pour les sanctions contre ce pays au Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU, après avoir précédemment condamné l’essai nucléaire dans une déclaration commune avec le Premier ministre de droite japonais nouvellement élu Shinzo Abe publiée le 8 octobre. Et Pékin n’a pas cessé de faire pression sur le régime de Pyongyang pour qu’il revienne aux « pourparlers à six » dont l’objectif est de désarmer la Corée du Nord. Pour sa part, la Corée du Nord fait pression pour des discussions « bilatérales » avec les Etats-Unis.
Quel a été le résultat net de la servilité éhontée de la Chine ? A n’en pas douter, les impérialistes accordent maintenant à la Chine le statut d’acteur majeur, bien qu’aberrant, sur la scène mondiale. Et il y a les somptueux banquets arrosés d’alcools forts, accompagnés d’occasions sans aucun doute nombreuses de s’enrichir pour faveurs accordées aux investisseurs impérialistes. Mais depuis le renversement de l’Etat ouvrier dégénéré en URSS, les Etats-Unis ont redéployé en Asie des forces qu’ils employaient jadis à contenir la « menace » soviétique, et ces forces sont un danger pas seulement pour Pyongyang, mais en premier lieu pour Pékin. En même temps, les Etats-Unis renforcent leurs liens avec l’impérialisme japonais, en prenant la Chine pour cible sous couvert de « défendre » l’Etat capitaliste taïwanais. Pour sa part, le Japon s’efforce d’enjoliver sa brutale occupation de la Chine et de la Corée pendant la première moitié du XXe siècle et jusqu’à sa défaite pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, et utilise en même temps la Corée du Nord comme prétexte pour contourner les restrictions au développement de son armée, inscrites dans la Constitution d’après-guerre.
La honteuse conciliation dont fait preuve Pékin envers la campagne impérialiste contre la Corée du Nord est particulièrement dangereuse pour la défense de la Chine elle-même. Une contre-révolution capitaliste en Chine serait une défaite dévastatrice pour le prolétariat international, car elle transformerait le pays le plus peuplé du monde en un atelier géant de surexploitation directement sous la coupe des exploiteurs impérialistes, ou peut-être autre chose qui n’est même pas encore envisagé. L’urgence, c’est de lutter pour la révolution politique prolétarienne en Chine, pour chasser les bureaucrates au pouvoir à Pékin et les remplacer par un régime basé sur la démocratie ouvrière et l’internationalisme révolutionnaire. Une révolution politique ouvrière en Chine serait un aiguillon pour un soulèvement similaire en Corée du Nord, en même temps que l’étincelle d’une révolution socialiste en Corée du Sud, jetant ainsi la base d’une réunification révolutionnaire de la péninsule coréenne. Elle donnerait un élan puissant au prolétariat japonais contre ses maîtres capitalistes, et préparerait le terrain pour une offensive prolétarienne à l’échelle mondiale contre la domination impérialiste.
Pour la révolution socialiste internationale !
Aux Etats-Unis, les Démocrates se sont saisis de l’essai nucléaire de la Corée du Nord pour se présenter comme les vrais durs qui savent comment défendre l’Amérique contre les vrais Etats-voyous comme la Corée du Nord et l’Iran. L’ancien sénateur Démocrate Sam Nunn résumait ainsi les leçons de l’essai nucléaire du Nord : « Ce qu’il vous dit, c’est que nous avons commencé du mauvais côté de “l’axe du mal”. Nous avons commencé avec le moins dangereux des pays, l’Irak, et nous le savions à l’époque. Et maintenant nous devons gérer cela » (New York Times, 10 octobre). Et Harry Reid, le leader de la minorité au Sénat, l’a exprimé de façon encore plus tranchante : « Distraite par l’Irak et paralysée par ses divisions internes, l’administration Bush est depuis plusieurs années dans un état de déni au sujet du défi croissant que représente la Corée du Nord, et elle a trop souvent essayé de minimiser le problème ou de changer de sujet […]. La première étape pour mettre fin au programme d’armes nucléaires de la Corée du Nord, c’est de faire en sorte que ce premier essai nucléaire présumé soit aussi le dernier » (Agence France-Presse, 9 octobre).
Une chose est claire : si les Démocrates reprennent le contrôle du Sénat et/ou de la Chambre des représentants lors des prochaines élections, ce sera dans une large mesure parce que les électeurs sont consternés par l’occupation apparemment sans fin de l’Irak. Mais les Démocrates sont, en fait, le parti par excellence de la guerre impérialiste. Pratiquement toutes les principales actions impérialistes américaines du XXe siècle ont été menées par des présidents Démocrates – parce que la classe dirigeante américaine sait que la posture d’« amis » des travailleurs qui est celle des Démocrates les rend mieux à même de faire passer les guerres de l’impérialisme US auprès de la population. Et de fait, Bill Clinton, en 1994, était prêt à bombarder la Corée du Nord jusqu’à ce qu’elle se soumette s’il n’avait pas obtenu de Kim Jong-il la promesse de cesser ses efforts pour retraiter le plutonium contenu dans les barres de combustible. Ce qu’offrent les Démocrates, c’est une « guerre contre le terrorisme » supérieure, dont la cible prioritaire serait aujourd’hui la Corée du Nord, comme premier coup tiré contre la Révolution chinoise de 1949.
Les aspirations prédatrices des Etats-Unis sont tellement transparentes que même certains des socialistes de pacotille qui esquivent la défense des Etats ouvriers déformés avec l’argument spécieux qu’il s’agirait de sociétés capitalistes, feignent la sympathie pour le sort de la Corée du Nord. Ainsi, l’International Socialist Organization (ISO) a décrit le conflit actuel comme une « confrontation américaine déclenchée par Bush » et comme « le dernier exemple de plus d’un demi-siècle de pressions militaires des Etats-Unis et de leur Etat-client, la Corée du Sud, qui ont commencé avec une guerre entre les deux Corée de 1950 à 1953 » (Socialist Worker, édition en ligne, 13 octobre).
Il faut un culot d’acier à l’ISO pour se déclarer ainsi préoccupée. Ses géniteurs ont reçu leur baptême du feu pendant la guerre de Corée quand ils ont capitulé devant l’impérialisme britannique et américain et refusé de défendre la révolution sociale coréenne contre l’agression impérialiste. L’ISO soupire maintenant qu’aucune personne sensée ne veut d’une guerre en Corée, et préconise un « vrai désarmement » qui commencerait « avec la force motrice de la militarisation de la politique étrangère en Asie – le gouvernement des Etats-Unis ».
L’ISO trahit ici sa foi misérablement réformiste dans la possibilité de créer un impérialisme bon et inoffensif. Voter pour telle ou telle version de la politique impérialiste aura un impact nul sur les aspirations de la classe dirigeante américaine, qui ne veut rien moins que dominer le monde. Pour mettre fin à la guerre et à ses ravages, il faut que le prolétariat renverse l’ordre mondial impérialiste, et cette tâche ne peut pas être accomplie sans forger un parti révolutionnaire trotskyste international voué à cet objectif. C’est à cela que la LCI consacre toutes ses ressources.

In Ref to the Haughton High School Parents......Yes there are SOME ligit reasons why parents don't get involve with their kids and volunteering. BUT there are more non-excuses that shouldn't be used. JUST PURE LAZINESS....I've seen this when my daughter went through HS her 4 years. I belonged to the Band Booster Club and helped with the concession stands and it was ALWAYS the same old people. Us volunteers would like to watch our children during half time too. WE as volunteers are proud of our children as well. When we volunteer we sign up per quarter.....I don't think ONE quarter is much for volunteering. So step up and make your kids proud and VOLUNTEER your time. They are memories with your children you can cherish.
Last month we got a letter from CVS pharmacy, we had used them a couple of years back, we stopped, we were using Walgreens instead.
The letter offered us 2 (TWO) $25 GIFT CARDS IF WE TRANSFERRED TWO PRESCRIPTIONS TO THEM. OK, went to a CVS and they said they could only do ONE GIFT CARD/SCRIPT TRANSFER PER DAY, OK, transferred ONE script, had it filled and got the gift card. Went to another CVS close by, transferred the other script, got it filled and got SECOND gift card, SAME DAY.
Today in the mail we get a letter from Walgreens saying they miss us and if we will transfer ONE OR MORE scripts, they will give us $25 IN STORE CREDIT for doing so, good on anything we like.
When it comes time next month, we will be transferring the regular two scripts BACK TO WALGREENS and getting that $25!

Now, I am not a pretty young thing anymore. I'm in my thirties, and I'm sure that out there somewhere there are women in their thirties who welcome advances from retirees. However, I do not think those women are typical. I do not date men old enough to be my dad. Nor should you assume that I might. Especially if you are in my bar more than once a week. It puts a strain on our friendly barmaid/alcoholic relationship. Perhaps by the standards of your generation, a thirty-something single mom bartender is "damaged goods." My generation thinks I'm a catch, because I have no diseases, addictions, or debt. I appreciate the compliments, but I can only hear you tell me I am "cuter than a speckled pup under a little red wagon" so many time before my smile begins to feel a little tight. So please don't ask me out to dinner or bring me gifts. It will only cause us both discomfort, because I probably like you, and don't want to hurt your feelings.

I just like to feel appreciated, because it is insulting to know that a person is able to tip, but chooses not to. It makes me wonder what I did wrong, and why you are reluctant to bring it to my attention. I also would like to point out that after you and all your drunk buddies leave to go to Jimmy's, I get to start cleaning up after you, so you aren't just giving me money for making your drink. 4. People who think I should come out from behind the bar and wait on them on a busy Friday night.
I can serve five people in the time it takes for me to walk over there, find out what you want, come back, obtain it, bring it to you, get the money for it that you inconsiderately failed to give me when you placed your order, go back, ring it up, come back, hand you your change, get stiffed because I wasn't fast enough for you, and go back behind the bar. It means less money for the bar, and less money for me. So unless you tip me at least fifty dollars up front, get off your fat drunk ass and walk to the bar like everybody else.
5. Customers who sit at the bar and demand my undivided attention.
I have stuff to do. I can't sit and talk to you all night. There are other people here with empty glasses who are irritated with both of us. The well is out of ice. The phone is ringing. I have to pee. For the love of GOD shut up. I shouldn't have to stand in one spot and listen to you tell me about your medical issues, the pills you take for them, and their side effects just because I am being paid to be here. It's not my fault you came by yourself. Nor do I want to politely shoot you down repeatedly because you are too shy to talk to any of the other women in the bar. A friendly reminder: they are drunk and I am sober. A captive audience is not necessarily a good thing.
6. Women who puke in the ladies bathroom.
Go outside. That way, there isn't a line of women waiting on you to finish deciding whether or not you're going to puke again. Plus, I don't have to clean it up.
7. Men who put foreign objects (cigarette butts, chewing tobacco, discarded beer bottles, etc.) in the urinal.

8. People who behave as though they were at a livestock show.
You know who you are. You spit on the floor. You put gum in the ashtray. You strew trash and cigarette butts like you're Johnny Appleseed, and Cheetos and Marlboro Lights will magically appear in their place. You think it's cute to get people's attention by throwing coasters at them. You break a glass and kick the pieces into the corner. You get two out of every ten grains of salt actually INTO the beer. You leave large chalk hand prints on the pool tables, and my ass if I'm not careful. Every weekend I spend at least two hours after the bar closes cleaning up after you people. I am not paid for it. It's just part of my duties. I sweep, mop, clean ashtrays, empty the trash, wash glasses, clean bathrooms. It sucks. It wouldn't suck so bad if it weren't for the fact that some people think it's a luxury to go somewhere and be a complete asshole and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Like it's a perk. Yay, I get to grind my cigarette butt out on the floor and not get in trouble! It's almost like finding a mint on your pillow, or having a nurse bring you a bedpan. Lucky you.
9. People who tell me to smile.
Yes, I have dimples. But I don't always feel like smiling. Especially when someone says, "Smile! It can't be that bad!" It is similar to how I imagine Canadians feel when Texans ask them to say "house." You see, I am at work. I know you are having a good time, but I am in the process of bringing home the bacon. If I am not smiling, it is because I am worrying about things I have been too busy to do, or because my feet and back hurt, or because I simply don't like you.
10. People who insist on starting conversations about my breasts.

I've recently come into a different way of thinking about the word "fat." I was directed to an article a few days ago written by a woman who was tired of people avoiding the word around her, to describe her. And I get that. I often refer to myself as fat because I'm not scared of what *I* mean by it. But I have always been super sensitive to anyone else making comments about my weight. No matter how they say it. But that article has made me realize that I'm not afraid of the word "fat." I am afraid of what other people could be implying by using the word. In our culture, fat is equated with lazy, unattractive, unmotivated, not involved, apathetic, etc. So when someone called me "fat," I inferred all that other stuff. And, let's be honest, very few people in my life have called me fat in a nice or neutral way. Nine times out of ten, in my life, if someone's called me fat, they did it to hurt me. So if that's what they mean, that's how I take it. That's how I've always heard it, so that's what it means to me. It's twenty-four years in the making. It's not easy to undo that kind of damage. But I'm working through it.
